Co-founder & CEO

Currently serves as CEO of Mpower.
Has over 25 years of experience in R&D and operations of automotive emission catalyst, fuel cell catalyst and lithium-ion battery products. Successfully incubated many startups from ground to industry well-recognized business. Previously successfully served CEO and key management roles at Nanostellar, EoCell, NanoeXa, Xpeed and 3DO.

Dr. Gi-Wook Shin

Co-founder & Professor, Stanford University

Currently serves as William J. Perry Professor of Contemporary Korea in Sociology and International Studies and Director of the Walter H. Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center at Stanford University. World-renowned expert on international relations and politics in Asia. Consults for both private and public organizations in the US and Asia.

Alex Park

Co-founder

Alex’s law practice focuses on Business Transactions, Venture Capital Financing, Shareholders Dispute Litigation, Intellectual Property Litigation and more. Has assisted over 500 high-tech companies in their start-up mode. Served on the following Board of Directors: Asian Americans for Community Involvement, Korean American Development Corporation, Chinese American Democratic Club, and more.

Bob McDowell

VP, Technology, Founding Member

Has over 35 years of experience in all aspects of the automotive and industrial emission catalyst industry. Previously served as Product Development Director, VP of Manufacturing and Operations Manager at Johnson Matthey, Catalytic Solution, Nanostellar and CleanAir Systems. Areas of expertise include catalytic coatings involving precisely engineering surfaces, raw materials, morphology, thermal treatment, and more.

Dr. Glen Han

VP, R&D, Founding Member

Has over 15 years of experience in all aspects of the battery material, solar material and polymer electrolyte membrane industry. Possesses excellent characterization and troubleshooting skills in electrochemical characterization of composite electrodes, silicon anode and polymer electrolyte membranes.
Previously served as Sr. Director of R&D, Sr. Material Scientist and Sr. Electrochemist at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab, UC Berkeley, Solo power, Envia and Maxim Integrated.

Fengping Wu

Director, China Market

Has 10 years experience in clean tech and carbon trading industries. Previously served as senior project manager at EEA Fund Management, managing projects in China and Southeast Asia and achieved success of over $50M in projects. Worked for several silicon-valley startups in marketing, business development and strategy planning. Finalized $20M of fundraising.

Membrane Scientist [Full time]

Primary Areas of Responsibilities:

* Design the synthetic processes to make a broad range of large ultrathin defect free membranes.

* Development of defect free ultrathin membrane on a substrate via interfacial polymerization (Langmuir-Blodgett Troughs or any other commercial equipment)) or Layer by layer (LBL).

* Synthesize various organic framework membranes in the application of PEM and fuel cell catalyst.

* Develop and optimize covalent organic framework membranes which can function at high liquid flux rate under low pressure differentials.

* Assist in scaling-up synthesis to production volumes.

* Characterization of covalent organic frameworks: XRD, SEM, Particle size analysis, DSC, TGA, ICP, Gas adsorption, and BET. 

* Assembly and operation of test cells for liquid filtration or gas separation.

* Collaborate and communicate with technicians, scientists, engineers, and managers participating in weekly technical meetings.

Required Experience

* Extensive experience in membrane industries

* Extensive experience in synthesizing large ultrathin defect free membranes via interfacial polymerization or LBL.

* Extensive experience in testing the membranes and analyzing the data.

Preferred Experience & Education

* Experience in organic frameworks (COF/MOF) technology.

* Experience in collaboration with other research groups.

* Ideal candidate should have a Ph.D. in chemical engineering or chemistry related area. Otherwise, they should have BA and experience equivalent to more than 6 years in membrane industries.


Proton Exchange Membrane Specialist [Full time]

Primary Areas of Responsibilities:

* Develop thin PEM (10-25um) for H2 PEM Fuel cells.

* Develop Proton exchange polymer/e-PTFE composite membrane.

* Develop and optimize MEA fabrication process.

* Testing PEM in Fuel cell configuration.

* Develop industrial membrane process.

* Organize commercial membrane specification and industrial testing method.

* Collaborate and communicate with technicians, scientists, engineers, and managers participating in weekly technical meetings.

* If a candidate has extensive industrial experience of any kinds of membranes which are composites of polymer/e-PTFE or polymer/any kinds of supporting porous filter, he will be considered as a good candidate.

Required Experience

* Industrial experience in composite PEM production.

* Extensive experience in testing PEM membranes and analyzing the data.

Preferred Experience & Education

* Experience in organic frameworks (COF/MOF) technology.

* Experience in collaboration with other research groups.

* Ideal candidate should have a BA, MS, or PhD in chemical engineering or chemistry, in addition to 6 years experience in membrane industries.


PEM Fuel Cell Catalyst Specialist [Full time]

Primary Areas of Responsibilities:

* Development of Non-Pt catalyst for H2 PEM Fuel cells.

* Develop MEA test procedures to qualify the synthesized catalysts.

* Transfer research partner’s formulations into a production ready process.

* Testing catalysts in single and stack configuration.

* Define catalyst specification and industrial testing method.

* Manage technicians, scientists, engineers, and managers participating in weekly technical meetings.

* If a candidate has extensive industrial experience of PEM fuel cells or H2 electrolyzers without the intensive experience of catalysts, s/he will be considered as a good candidate.

 

Required Experience

* Extensive experience in catalyst syntheses and MEA development.

* Extensive experience in testing catalyst in PEM Fuel cell configuration.

 

Preferred Experience & Education

* Experience in carbonization, planetary ball milling or other kinds of carbon coating technology.

* Experience in collaboration with other research groups.

* Ideal candidate should have a BA, MS, or PhD in chemical engineering or chemistry, in addition to 6 years’ industrial membrane experience.
